The Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Beijing-Tibet Exchange Center Project was held in Lhasa on July 26, 2016. A lineup of leaders led by Wang Anshun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Beijing attended the ceremony. He was accompanied by Losang Jamcan (Deputy Secretary of the CPC Tibetan Committee and Chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region Government), Qizala (Member of Standing Committee of the CPC Tibetan Committee and Secretary of the CPC Lhasa Municipal Committee), Li Shulei (Member of Standing Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Secretary of Commission for Discipline Inspection), Cheng Hong (Deputy Mayor of Beijing), Wang Ning (Deputy Mayor of Beijing), Phurba Tashi (Vice Chair of Tibet Autonomous Region Government), Wang Wenpei (Executive Deputy Secretary-General of Tibet Autonomous Region Government), Li Aiqing (Secretary of the CPC BSAM Committee and Chairman of BSAM) to break ground for this project.
The Beijing-Tibet Exchange Center was established featuring the market-oriented operation mode, a practice in line with the Central Government’s decision-making of “Long-Term Aid to Tibet and Long-Term Construction of Tibet”, aiming to build a long-term cooperation, exchange and development platform between Beijing and Tibet. The Center is characterized with four service functions, namely, the “Aiding Tibet Achievements Showcasing Center, Beijing-Tibetan Industry Promotion Platform, commercial facilities that serve cultural exchange, and the Communication Apartment for Beijing Cadres Aiding Tibet”. Committed to building such market-oriented platforms as the culture and business communication, innovation and entrepreneurship incubation, production factor market and financial support service, the Center is proving to be effective efforts to advance two-way exchanges and win-win cooperation between Beijing and Tibet.
BSAM, trusted by both the Beijing Municipal Government and Lhasa Municipal Government, is responsible for the investment and construction of Beijing-Tibet Exchange Center, and has specially set up a wholly-owned subsidiary, the Lhasa Beijing-Tibet Exchange Center Co., Ltd. for the work. This subsidiary company assumes responsibility for investment, construction and operation of this project. Beijing Science Park Development Group has been commissioned to undertake the construction and management tasks of this project.
