On June 7, in accordance with the requirements of Beijing Municipal Foreign Affairs, China Beijing Environmental Exchange welcomed the visiting Japanese Environment Minister Tamayo Marukawa. Both parties exchanged views on Chinese-Japanese carbon market construction and other issues.
China Beijing Environmental Exchange described China’s greenhouse gas emission control targets, status quo of national carbon market policy system construction, characteristics of Beijing’s pilot for carbon trading and other contents, intensively highlighted the important role of China Beijing Environmental Exchange in these efforts and exploration in carbon finance, and expressed wish for strengthening cooperation with the Japanese enterprises in the field of low carbon. Minister Tamayo Marukawa highly praised the plentiful fruits of carbon market construction in Beijing City and China, introduced the Japanese related research findings and policy environment, and promised to plan for launching carbon market in due time and actively promote cooperation with China in this field.
