On May 17, “Holding the Spotlight on Beijing, Connecting China and Other Counties and Communication all over the World”—Showcase Event of Beijing’s Transformation and Development Achievements & Launching Ceremony of 2016’ “Water Cube Cup” Overseas Chinese Youth Chinese Song Contest was held at the “Water Cube”. Tan Tianxing (Deputy Director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council), Li Wei (Member of the Standing Committee and Director of Information Department, the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee), Cheng Hong (Vice Mayor of Beijing),Wang Ting (Deputy Director of United Front Work Department of the CYL Central Committee and Deputy Secretary General of All-China Youth Federation), Liu Chunfeng (Director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Beijing Municipal Government), Huang Xiaowei (Deputy Head of Chaoyang District), Wu Xiaonan (Vice President of Beijing State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd) and other leaders jointly kicked off 2016’ “Water Cube Cup” Overseas Chinese Youth Chinese Song Contest.
Liu Chunfeng briefly introduced the preparations and new features of this contest, such as ever-increasing scale, constantly-enriched content, more highlighted get-together features, more multi-dimensional and diversified publicity platform and first-ever solicitation for contest mascot. More than 100 overseas Chinese media of 35 countries and regions attending “the Fourteenth Training Class for Overseas Chinese Media” in Beijing, delegates from overseas sponsors of the “Water Cube Cup” Contest, delegates from organizers, sponsors and cooperators of the “Water Cube Cup”, Beijing-based central media and municipal media were present in the launching ceremony.
After the launching ceremony, municipal competent authorities introduced Beijing’s “Thirteenth Five-year Planning”, synergetic development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei and specific preparations for 2022’ Winter Olympic Games to the delegates from overseas Chinese media.
